This Spring Stroll is a repeat by popular demand of the Winter Walk (hopefully the weather will be nicer than for that event).
Starting at 10.00am from The Bonded Warehouse, Stourbridge, this stroll will see participant’s complete a seven mile round trip at their own pace along the Stourbridge Arm of the canal on the newly re-laid towpath, heading via Wordsley Junction to the Prestwood / Stourton area before returning to The Bonded Warehouse.
Good proper walking footwear and attire is recommended especially if the weather has been inclement or is poor on the day. Dogs are welcome. Young children should be accompanied at all times.
The entry fee of just £1 per person is payable on the day. Free car parking will be available at the Bonded Warehouse.
All profits from the walk will be donated to the Mayor of Dudley’s charities, which are Dudley Mind, the YMCA and Dudley Alzheimer’s Society. The Mayor will almost be at the end of his year in office so it would be great to see a bumper turnout to boost his charity funds – so prepare to walk off the chocolate excess of Easter and help local good causes along the way.
The Willow Tree tearooms at the half way point (on the A449 near The Stewponey) is being asked to put on a ‘Mayor’s special’ (tea and toast) for walkers as a favour to the Mayor for potentially generating footfall at the tearooms. It was noted that at last walk the hot drink and toast was really good and at a fair price too.
